Walleyes Forever |
Canyon Ferry netting update: April 18, 2008![]() with no camera in the boat From ERIC ROBERTS Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks About the only thing I can report for this week is that it is windy out there! High winds wreaked havoc on all our traps--we even managed to sink a pontoon off of Pond 1. We were able to salvage all of our gear and we got two Merwins up and fishing again on Thursday. This morning's check had about a dozen walleyes between the two traps, with one ripe female caught off the east shore and coming in at 11.2 pounds. The biggest male came in at 20". Hopefully we can catch a few more fish before this weekend's storm comes through and shuts things down. We were destined to catch a big walleye today, because I left the camera back in the truck. Attached is a picture of the sunk Merwin next to another trap. Volunteers are always welcome--for more details call my office line at 495-3272 and leave a message.
